This is a fully functional miniature of the popular "gobbo" in Italy – a traditional craft from the Loreto Aprutino municipality.
The times we live in are marked by increased consumption. As a result, the objects we use daily hold no value other than their utility for us. Over the years, we often shed the sentimental value they once had, replacing them with newer models.
Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives focuses on producing exceptional knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family-owned workshop appears to be completely independent of the trends that have dominated the global market over the years. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is now maintained by the fourth generation of Italian artisans.
The founders strongly oppose mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the products. Therefore, their manufacturing philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to innovations. New ideas are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can meet the long-standing quality standards.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized groups of artisans but are performed from start to finish by the same individual. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
High-quality materials are used in production – blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, as well as 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their products, although intended for everyday use, be treated with respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each piece is a small, one-of-a-kind artifact.
