In complete opposition to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives is focused on creating exclusive knives for various purposes. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to remain entirely detached from the trends that have dominated the world over the years. Its most important value is a commitment to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The owners firmly reject the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to a loss of identity in the products. Therefore, their company's philosophy places special emphasis on the employed staff. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to new ideas. They are very welcome, provided they align with the existing concept and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized artisan sections, but are performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, while handles are made from materials including buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
