The times we live in are associated with increased consumption. As a result, the objects we use every day hold no value for us other than utilitarian. Each year, we often neglect them, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various purposes, is different. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to be completely autonomous from the trends that have occurred worldwide over the years. Its core value is a commitment to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these Italian artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered knives. For this reason, their workshop’s work philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing idea and can withstand years of quality testing.
Unlike the competition, the individual stages of knife manufacturing are not performed by specialized groups of workers, but are carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
High-quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, while handles are made, among others, from buffalo horns, bison, deer, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that their products, although intended for everyday use, be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
