Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives is to produce exclusive knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop appears to be completely independent of the trends that have occurred worldwide over the years. Its most important value is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these Italian artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the products. Therefore, their company's philosophy places special emphasis on the employed staff. This does not mean, however, that the Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized sections of workers, but are performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The highest quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are made from materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is a small, unique artifact.
