We live in times characterized by increased consumption. As a result, the items we use every day hold no value for us beyond their utility. Over the years, we often neglect them, replacing them with newer models.
Contrasting sharply with this mindset is the philosophy of Berti Knives, a brand that produces exceptional knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this family workshop seems entirely detached from the trends that have emerged worldwide over the years. Its core value is a commitment to tradition, which is now upheld by the fourth generation of Italian artisans.
The owners strongly oppose mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of the identity of their products. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that the Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized artisan sections but are performed from start to finish by the same individual. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
High-quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, while handles are crafted from buffalo, bison, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their products should be treated with respect, which guarantees their durability over many years. Each one is a small, unique artifact.
