The times we live in are associated with increased consumption. Therefore, the items we use daily are often valued only for their utility. Over the years, we often shed the sentimentality they once held, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a producer of exceptional knives for various purposes, is different. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to remain completely detached from the trends that have emerged worldwide over the years. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is now maintained by the fourth generation of these Italian artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the products offered. Therefore, their company's philosophy places special emphasis on the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to change. Changes are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife making are not handled by specialized artisan sections but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
