They have many advantages, which we will tell you about below, and you can place them in the bedroom, living room, home library, or home office. Exclusive rugs for the living room bring elegance to any interior

Rugs arrived in Europe from Central Asia, and it is likely that their first examples originated there. Interestingly, they were prototypes of today's wool rugs, as they were most often woven from sheep's fleece and used for everyday purposes. Three thousand years before our era, rugs were not used for interior decoration as they are today, but for mundane matters. They served as beds, tables, and family meeting places. The oldest rug in the world found to date is the so-called "Pazyryk," discovered in 1947 in Siberia.

Contemporary rugs from renowned manufacturers like Datina Studio primarily serve a decorative function in rooms. Those purchased after the Second World War, during the times of the Polish People's Republic, covered not only floors but also walls. Patchworks, tapestries, and wall hangings often hung above the bed in the bedroom, creating a kind of headboard, on the main wall in the dining room where a large family table stood, and in the living room behind the sofa. Over the years, landscapes were painted on silk rugs, allowing them to be used instead of photo wallpapers, covering any wall imperfections.

Are luxury rugs a good idea for decoration?

Currently, exclusive rugs, such as those from Flatweaves, are the latest trend in interior design. Having them in a room has many advantages. First of all, they muffle the sound of our footsteps, provide excellent floor insulation, and of course, elegantly decorate our spaces. Importantly, this essential element of living room or bedroom decor offers us many possibilities. Since it is quite distinctive, changing it from time to time allows you to transform the interior quickly and easily.

Using shaggy rugs will make the bedroom and living room very cozy. Placing a patterned, oriental rug on the floor will give the interiors an exotic character. It is also worth buying rugs that contrast with the room's walls, i.e., buy a dark rug for light walls and vice versa. Do not be afraid of colorful models either. Just remember the rule: the more vibrant the rug's colors, the lighter the floor it should lie on.

Features of modern rugs

Exclusive rugs woven in a modern style will highlight minimalist, loft, and vintage interiors. Since they are quite extravagant, it is good to place them in subdued interiors because modern rugs:

  • Are patterned;

  • often have intense colors;

  • are usually woven in rectangles or squares, sometimes in rhombuses, but always have an angular shape;

  • often draw inspiration from oriental styles, but can also be solid and fluffy, like shaggy rugs;

  • can appear in patchwork form;

  • are durable, even with intensive use.

Modern rugs are perfect for the living room, dining room, and children's room. They are resistant to dirt and wear. Due to their high quality, they guarantee years of use. When you purchase an exclusive rug, such as one from the Muranti manufactory, at our Luxury Products store, you'll only change it when you decide to refresh the interior after some time.

How to choose the right rug?

Choosing an exclusive rug may not be simple. Contrary to appearances, not only the pattern and color should be considered during purchase. You should also think about:

  • Size,
  • shape,
  • material it is made from,
  • pile length,
  • whether it is hand-woven or machine-woven,
  • the style in which it is woven (e.g., oriental, modernism, classic),
  • cleaning possibilities.

Let's start with the size and shape of the rugs. If you are buying one for the living room or bedroom, be sure to adjust the dimensions to... the sofa, bed, or couch. Either choose a large version that can be tucked under the furniture legs or a small one, so the length is shorter than the sofa. As for the shape of the rug, the rule is that so-called angular rugs (square or rectangular) look best in contemporary interiors, while circular ones suit classic and antique settings. If you're not afraid of unconventional solutions and enjoy playing with and mixing styles in interior design, you can use rugs to divide the space into zones. However, remember that they should all harmonize with each other.

The most luxurious rugs are made of wool. High pile is cozy and very pleasant to the touch. The most important advantage of wool rugs is their excellent insulation from the floor and the warmth they provide when walking on them in socks or barefoot. Additionally, they dampen sound, making them ideal for bedrooms or home libraries. They are also exceptionally durable.

Viscose rugs are also pleasant to the touch. They are characterized by their ability to easily absorb moisture and their sheen. They are neither natural nor synthetic, as they are made from processed cellulose fibers. These models are smooth, making them easy to vacuum and clean. Classic acrylic rugs are not only cozy but also resistant to damage and guarantee durability. They are made from 100% acrylic yarn and provide excellent insulation from the ground.

Luxurious silk rugs are cool but pleasant to the touch and thin. They are recommended for allergy sufferers (similar to polypropylene rugs, known as heat-set) due to their hypoallergenic properties. Additionally, they are resistant to all kinds of dirt, making them suitable for homes with children. They fit well in classic, modern, and glamour interiors.

The design of a rug consists of its color scheme, pattern, and style. These features allow you to influence the perception of your interior, for example, making it appear brighter or larger. You can match the colors and pattern of the rug to the color of the room's walls, curtains, or sofa and furniture. However, if you frequently change curtains, we recommend choosing the first option. Dark rugs have the advantage of not showing dirt easily. They look elegant in rooms with light furniture. Light rugs, on the other hand, can visually enlarge a space. They complement both light and dark furniture.

How to clean luxury rugs?

Cleaning rugs is not usually a favorite household chore, and many people try to do it as infrequently as possible. Depending on the model and usage, rugs should be cleaned every 6 to 12 months. Luxury rugs are best cleaned with washing vacuum cleaners, which you can also purchase from us. Even if you don't find them in our offer, we will find one that best meets your needs and, of course, import it for you from anywhere in the world. After cleaning wool rugs with such a vacuum, remember that they must dry naturally; do not use any dryers on them. A simple and very eco-friendly method is cleaning the rug with active foam created from the combination of vinegar and baking soda. It is not harmful to fabrics, as the acid and base neutralize each other, and it cleans very well. Spray the rug with it and leave it to dry naturally. Then, simply vacuum it. For larger stains, apply the foam on a microfiber cloth and rub the stain. You can also sprinkle powdered baking soda on the rug, leave it for an hour or two, and then vacuum it. Baking soda removes unpleasant odors from the rug, similar to hydrogen peroxide. However, hydrogen peroxide should not be used on all types of rugs. For example, wool and silk do not tolerate it well.

How are rugs handwoven?

Handwoven rugs are made on looms. The first weaving loom was created in ancient Egypt. Interestingly, it was not horizontal but vertical. The next ones were built by the Chinese in the 2nd century BC. These were the prototypes of today's looms. These machines reached Poland over a thousand years later, in the 10th century AD. Mechanical looms were only invented at the end of the 18th century. Handwoven rugs on looms can be called knotted. The knots are tied starting at the lower part of the machine, then moving upwards. There are also rugs without knots, where a flat weave is used instead. After weaving a knotted or woven rug, the creator proceeds to dye it. Natural dyes derived from plants, such as walnut shells, tea brew, or turmeric, are used for this. We encourage you to contact us regarding handwoven rugs, which we import for our clients from India, Afghanistan, and Iran. They are characterized by very high quality, durability, and precision in weaves and knots. What is very important to us is that the rugs we sell are free from child labor!
