Description
It is said that knives of this type were invented by shepherds for cutting soft cheeses, polenta, and butter. They are effective when working with cheeses such as stracchino, robiola, soft goat cheese, ricotta, and fresh tometta.
The times we live in are characterized by increased consumption. Therefore, the objects we use daily hold no value for us other than functional. Over the years, we often do not show the proper sentiment towards them, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exceptional knives for various purposes, is different. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this small workshop appears to be entirely independent of the trends that have occurred worldwide over the years. Its main guiding principle is a commitment to tradition, which is now upheld by the fourth generation of these skilled artisans.
The founders firmly reject the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of the identity of the knives produced. Therefore, their work philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to new ideas. They are very much welcomed, provided they bring elements consistent with their traditional approach and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not carried out by specialized groups of workers but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
High-quality materials are used in production — blades are made from steel, while handles are made from materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability over many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
