The times we live in are marked by increased consumption. Therefore, the items we use daily hold no value for us other than functional. Each year, we often neglect the attention they deserve, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various purposes, differs from this trend. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems entirely detached from the trends that have dominated the world throughout its history. Its most important value is a commitment to tradition, which is now cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The owners firmly reject the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered products. For this reason, their work philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this Italian family is not closed to any changes. They are very welcome, provided that they do not conflict with the current vision and can meet the long-standing quality standards.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized artisan sections, but are often carried out from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as bison, buffalo, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners suggest that, although their knives are intended for everyday use, they should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their longevity. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
