The times we live in are marked by increased consumption. Therefore, the items we use daily are valued only for their utility. Each year, we often neglect them, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various uses, differs from this approach. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop appears to be entirely independent of the trends that have dominated the world over the years. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is now maintained by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The founders strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of their knives. Therefore, their company's work philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they introduce elements consistent with the existing philosophy and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife manufacturing are not carried out by specialized groups of workers but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, and 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their products, although intended for everyday use, be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their longevity. Each one is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
