Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives is to produce exclusive knives for various purposes. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop appears to be entirely independent of the trends that have emerged worldwide over the years. Its core principle is a strong attachment to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of the identity of their knives. Therefore, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that the Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they introduce elements consistent with the existing philosophy and can withstand years of quality testing.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized sections of artisans but are performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of stainless steel, while handles are made, among others, from bison, buffalo, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique artifact.
