The times we live in are characterized by increased consumption. As a consequence, the everyday items we use have no value other than functional for us. Over the years, we often do not show the proper sentiment towards them, replacing them with newer models.
In complete opposition to this situation is the philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various purposes. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to be entirely independent of the trends that have occurred worldwide over the years of its operation. Their main guiding principle is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these excellent artisans.
The founders firmly reject the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered products. Therefore, their work philosophy places great emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any changes. They are most welcome, provided they introduce elements consistent with the current idea and are able to withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized sections of craftsmen, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as bison, buffalo, deer horns, as well as 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their knives, although intended for everyday use, be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their longevity. Each one is a small, unique artifact.
