The times we live in are characterized by increased consumption. As a result, the objects we use every day are valued only for their utility. Each year, we often part with the sentiment they once held, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a brand producing exceptional knives for various purposes, is quite different. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to be entirely independent of the trends that have dominated the world throughout its history. Its core value is fidelity to tradition, which is now cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The founders firmly reject the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered knives. For this reason, their manufacturing philosophy places great emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to change. Changes are highly welcomed, provided they do not conflict with the current vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not carried out by specialized groups of artisans, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The best quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are made from materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that their products, although intended for everyday use, be treated with the appropriate respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each piece is a small, one-of-a-kind artifact.
