In the times we live in, characterized by increased consumption, the items we use every day often lose their sentimental value and are seen only as functional objects. Each year, we often part with the sentimentality they once held, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a brand producing exceptional knives for various purposes, differs from this trend. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop appears to be entirely independent of the trends that have dominated the global market over the years. Its core value is fidelity to tradition, which is now cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The founders strongly reject the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of their knives. For this reason, their manufacturing philosophy places great emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that the Italian family is closed to change. Any changes are welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing vision and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike competitors, the various stages of knife production are not handled by specialized groups of artisans; instead, they are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The best quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are crafted from materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that their products, despite being designed for everyday use, are treated with respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each piece is a small, one-of-a-kind artifact.
