Description

The central element of bisque porcelain from the early 1900s. This triumph of bisque porcelain dates back to the early decades of the 1900s. Bisque porcelain is a special manufacturing technique that gives the surface an opaque and satin finish. This centerpiece depicts Mercury handing over his son Baccus to nymphs in the presence of a goat. It is a mythological scene typical of the style of the era.

Mercury, the messenger of the gods, was tasked with delivering his son Baccus to the nymphs, goddesses of the forests and waters. Baccus was a young god of wine and ecstasy, and the nymphs cared for him and taught him the secrets of nature and creativity.

The moment of birth was solemn and joyful: Mercury placed the newborn Baccus in the loving arms of the Nymphs, who greeted the little one with smiles and caresses. The nymphs cared for him as their own son, teaching him the mysteries of nature and magic.

Baccus would grow up under the care of the Nymphs, learning from them the wisdom and beauty of nature. Thanks to this precious gift from Mercury, the young god of wine and ecstasy would become one of the most beloved and revered deities of Olympus.

This is a delicate and refined item, perfect for table decoration and creating an elegant atmosphere.

Original antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of traditional and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, especially the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Beautiful Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from the Napoleonic era. This style features significant influences from Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in the Rococo style and Louis XV. The Baroque style, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate furniture designed to dazzle and serve a luxurious role. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.

Today, we can see how the Baroque style has profoundly influenced modern classical furniture, which often closely resembles the historic era. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using dark stains, cornices, strong bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times inspired many elements, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Today, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French craftsmen. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture styles varied by country, each with its own character. This is especially crucial when seeking a luxurious antique piece suited to your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this matters most to buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item, matching the description and photographs. We also have experts—art appraisers, historians, and specialists from around the world—available to assist you.
