Description

Handcrafted wrought iron chandelier pair, dated around 1970. Monumental, twelve-arm Italian chandeliers from the winter garden of an old rural villa in Lombardy, in good condition. The masterful wrought iron craftsmanship of this pair of antique chandeliers with a round cage structure is inspired by intricate, curved leaf motifs typical of the Rococo style, skillfully combined with lines of more classical and traditional patterns, as well as more rigorous elements such as tall, twisted columns, which can be seen in candelabras and lighting fixtures from castles and cathedrals of that period.

The impressive dimensions of this pair of twelve-arm pendant lamps — 160 cm in height and 107 cm in diameter — are balanced by harmonious lines, an ethereal lightness of vertical development, and a composition rich in harmonious volutes and phytomorphic details, making this pair of antique chandeliers highly versatile architectural elements suitable for contemporary interiors.

The worn patina of the wrought iron reveals traces of old green paint, giving this pair of antique chandeliers, artifacts from Lombardy from the second half of the 20th century, a suggestive, captivating character far from rustic charm.

Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of traditional and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few stand out as the most important. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century, especially during the reign of the Biedermeier style, is notable. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from Napoleon’s reign. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, such as Louis XVI style, also strongly references ancient architecture. Antique pieces in Rococo and Louis XV styles are also interesting and noteworthy. Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco' — meaning an irregularly developed pearl — was characterized by very elaborate, highly decorative furniture designed to radiate brilliance and play a significant role in luxury. Selectively used luxurious materials emphasized the grandeur of these pieces.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads — these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its own unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that suits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial from the customer’s perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world.
