Description
Charming, classic Italian Empire-style chandelier designed for candle lighting, with nine arms ending in candles, without electrical wiring, can be used as candleholders or decorative candlesticks.
Later crystal festoons made from new square-shaped crystals connect to round brass rings. At the lower part of this antique Italian chandelier, new crystal pendants in spear shapes adorn it.
Good condition, with an antique iron structure revealing old welds, dating from the 19th century, originally created for candle lighting. The chandelier has been adapted for electric lighting, as evidenced by small holes for wiring on the plates.
Stylish antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century reflects the popular Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the Victorian English style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from Napoleon’s reign. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate, luxurious furniture meant to dazzle and serve as a symbol of opulence. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can see how the Baroque style has greatly influenced modern classic furniture, which often resembles the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion paws and eagle heads are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, reflecting admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture styles varied by country, each with its unique character. This is especially relevant when searching for an exclusive antique piece suitable for your interior.
The most important aspect of original antique furniture is authenticity. This is ultimately crucial for buyers, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and correspondence with the description and photos. We also have experts, art appraisers, and historians from around the world at your disposal.
