Description

Iron lantern embossed from a portico or entrance made in the early decades of 1900. The round construction of this ancient lantern is entirely handcrafted, assembled with strips and rivets, without welding.

The vertically extended structure is decorated with flowers and curved leaf elements, which gently enclose the six-sided cage fitted with antique cathedral amber-colored glass.

It is functional and in excellent condition.

We had to move the (original) upper leaf element, and the four lower wings were rebuilt from scratch and riveted; the internal upper glass covers have been modified and galvanized.

It features a single bulb, a single internal E27 socket, and is intended for indoor use, so it does not need to be placed outdoors. Newly supplied cup and chain included.

Luxurious antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage products that have a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few key ones stand out. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Its variants in the early years of this century include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture refers to the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It originated from the reign of Napoleon, emphasizing strong similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture is associated with Louis XVI style, which also heavily references ancient architecture. Antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are also interesting and noteworthy. The next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate pieces designed to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Unique, selectively used materials were employed to further emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for an exclusive antique that suits your interior.

The key aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. And ultimately, this is crucial for buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market.
