Description

Iron lantern embossed from a portico or entrance made in the early decades of 1900. The round construction of this ancient lantern is entirely handcrafted, assembled with strips and rivets, without welding.

The vertically developed structure is decorated with flowers and curved leaf elements, delicately enclosing a hexagonal cage fitted with antique cathedral amber-colored glass.

It is functional and in excellent condition.

We had to move the original upper leaf element, and the four lower wings were rebuilt from scratch and riveted; the internal upper glass covers were modified and galvanized.

It features a single bulb, a single E27 internal socket, and is intended for indoor use, so it does not need to be placed outdoors. Newly supplied cup and chain included.

Luxurious antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that have a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture corresponds to the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It originated from the reign of Napoleon, emphasizing Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Notable and interesting are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate pieces designed to radiate splendor and serve a luxurious role. Unique materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how significantly the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style is also notable, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries and leaving a profound mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French artisans. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style its unique character. This is especially important when searching for an exclusive antique that suits your interior.

The key aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial for buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market.
