Description

Handcrafted wrought iron chandeliers, dating from around 1970. Monumental, twelve-arm Italian chandeliers from the winter garden of an old rural villa in Lombardy, in good condition. The masterful wrought iron craftsmanship of this pair of antique chandeliers with a circular basket construction is inspired by intricate, curved leaf motifs typical of the Rococo style, skillfully combined with lines of more classical and traditional patterns, as well as more rigorous elements such as tall, twisted columns, which can be seen in candelabras and lighting of castles and cathedrals from that period.

The impressive dimensions of this pair of twelve-arm pendant lamps — 160 cm in height and 107 cm in diameter — are balanced by elegant lines, ethereal lightness of vertical development, and a composition rich in harmonious scrolls and phytomorphic details, making this pair of antique chandeliers highly versatile architectural elements suitable for contemporary interiors.

The patina of the wrought iron reveals traces of old green paint, giving this pair of antique chandeliers, artifacts from Lombardy from the second half of the 20th century, a suggestive, captivating character, far from rustic charm.

Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of traditional and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few stand out as the most important. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, marked by the prevalent Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neogothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally, the Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Everything stems from Napoleon’s reign, which imposed a significant resemblance to and references from Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture is associated with Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy and interesting are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco' — meaning irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Selectively used materials were employed to further emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the former era. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These were quite distinctive products, but they also opened up new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly speaking, chest furniture. They also reflected an interest in mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads — these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that fits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial from the customer’s perspective, as many fakes circulate on the market.
