Description
Early 20th-century iron lantern originating from Italy, is a fascinating, handcrafted pendant lamp for interiors. The light green lacquered finish gives it an original appearance, while the hexagonal structure is enhanced by round, amber cathedral glass panels of varying diameters, providing a pleasant visual dynamism. Hinged doors allow easy access for bulb replacement and maintenance, making this historic lantern also functional.
Decorative patterns and twisted iron embellishments add an artistic character to the design, highlighting craftsmanship details of the era. The electrical installation has been completely renewed and equipped with interior lighting featuring a large E27 Edison socket, ensuring appropriate and modern brightness. Please note that this lantern is not suitable for direct exposure to weather conditions, as it comes from a villa porch from the early 20th century, where it was protected from the elements. This lantern offers an ideal combination of classic elegance and contemporary functionality, perfect for both interiors and sheltered outdoor spaces.
Original antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century, during which the beloved Biedermeier style flourished. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo styles of classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque.
Original Empire-style furniture dates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI style, also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate, luxurious pieces designed to shine with splendor and play a significant role in opulence. Selectively used materials emphasized the grandeur of these creations.
Today, we can observe how the Baroque style has greatly influenced modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and relief carvings. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly conceived chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times inspired the design, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially crucial when searching for a luxurious antique that suits your interior.
The key aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is vital from the customer’s perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market.
