Description

Iron lantern from the early 20th century, originating from Italy, is a fascinating, handcrafted hanging interior lamp. The light green lacquered finish gives it an original look, and the hexagonal structure is enriched with round, amber cathedral glass of varying diameters, providing a pleasant visual dynamism. Hinged doors allow easy access for bulb replacement and maintenance, making this antique lantern also functional.

Decorative patterns and twisted iron embellishments add an artistic character to the design, highlighting craftsmanship details of the era. The electrical installation has been completely renewed and equipped with interior lighting featuring a large E27 Edison socket, ensuring appropriate and modern brightness. Please note that this lantern is not suitable for direct exposure to weather conditions, as it comes from a villa porch from the early 20th century, where it was protected from the elements. This lantern is an ideal combination of classic elegance and contemporary functionality, perfect for interiors as well as sheltered outdoor spaces.

Original antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a specific character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, marked by the beloved Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate, statement pieces designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, which left a significant mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, often using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and relief decorations. These products were quite specific but introduced many innovations, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly speaking, chest-type furniture. The Renaissance also drew inspiration from mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, paying homage to and preserving the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that each country perceived furniture production differently, so each style had its unique character. This is especially crucial when searching for a luxurious antique that fits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is vital from the customer’s perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have experts, art appraisers, and historians from around the world at your disposal.
