Description

“A book that should provide hours of entertainment and discovery for mystery fans, especially those with British roots and subtexts.” — Crime Element

Vintage Crime is a diverse anthology by CWA, celebrating the long-standing work of its members. The book gathers stories from the 1950s to the 21st century, written by legendary authors from the past, prominent contemporary writers, along with a few hidden gems from lesser-known authors. The first CWA anthology, Butcher’s Dozen, was published in 1956 and was co-edited by Julian Symons, Michael Gilbert, and Josephine Bell. The anthology has been edited by Martin Edwards since 1996 and has produced many award-winning and nominated articles in the UK and abroad.

This new edition features a number of incredible and award-winning authors: Robert Barnard, Simon Brett, Liza Cody, Mat Coward, John Dickson Carr, Marjorie Eccles, Martin Edwards, Kate Ellis, Anthea Fraser, Celia Fremlin, Frances Fyfield, Michael Gilbert, Paula Gosling, Lesley Grant-Adamson, HRF Keating, Bill Knox, Peter Lovesey, Mick Herron, Michael Z. Lewin, Susan Moody, Julian Symons, and Andrew Taylor.

Popular titles and a wide range of authors showcase Flame Tree Publishing’s portfolio.

“The aim… is to wipe the dust of everyday life from our souls” — Pablo Picasso.

“Flame Tree Publishing has been dusting off the mundane for over twenty years, creating illustrated books since 1992, art calendars since 1998, and illustrated e-books since 2009. Their extensive list features powerful and eloquent artists such as Erté and Alphonse Mucha, complemented by extensive licenses in their award-winning calendar line, including collaborations with Tate, V&A, RSC, RA, and many others.

Thanks to a broad spectrum of authors, editors, and writers—from Vladimir Ashkenazy, Steve Hackett, John Howe, Sir George Martin, Brian May, Paul du Noyer, Paco Peña, Stanley Sadie— the brand strives to create illustrated projects that are affordable, useful, and beautiful. In addition to printed titles, their exceptional range of practical cookbooks, music books, pop culture, and lifestyle titles is increasingly available in digital formats. The producer believes that well-reviewed, thoughtfully curated content should be available in many different formats to meet their readers’ needs.
