Description
The disease is ravaging America, driving the infected into barbarism.
Small-time criminal Ben Silensky is determined to free his girlfriend Carlita and son Kyle from the quarantined city where they live, risking an impulsive crime, and then teaming up with Carlita's equally desperate cousin, Nando. When they escape, Nando is convinced they will find a place in the open prison where his uncle works, which has unknowingly become a colony of survivalists called Funland, managed by entrepreneurial convict Plan John.
Within Funland, guard Doyle Johnson is shocked when his ex-wife leaves their son Austin in his care. Fearing the helpless situation he's found himself in, he recruits Katherine Aaronovich, a former prison doctor, to help. But Aaronovich's traumatic past has left her with her own vulnerabilities, along with radical theories about the nature of the epidemic that endanger their entire lives.
As the last traces of civilization crumble, Funland may turn out to be the safest or the most dangerous place, depending on who comes out on top, and what cannot be connected will inevitably be torn apart.
