The Barbinich family is one of the well-known medieval noble families. They have left their mark on the island of Murano since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by order of the Council of Ten, the Barbinich clan was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, at that time, the Barbinich clan was granted a family crest – featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Glass Museum on the island of Murano.
