iMuranesi is an artistic venture conceived by Giampaolo Barbini. It is he who brought into it the legacy of one of the most renowned Venetian families, associated with Murano glassmaking.

The Barbini family is one of the respected medieval clans. They established their presence on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the times of the Venetian Republic, the Barbini clan was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables by decree of the Council of Ten, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, they were granted a family crest – featuring two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be seen at the Glass Museum in Murano.
