iMuranesi is a unique venture conceived by Giampaolo Barbin. He brought with him the legacy of one of the most renowned Venetian families.
The products of iMuranesi are distinctive due to the combination of several equally important elements. These include exquisite craftsmanship, the use of modern manufacturing techniques, sophisticated and bold design, and strong collaboration between top designers and glass artisans.
iMuranesi is now a popular international company that combines modernity with traditional Murano glass values.
However, behind this designer project lies a tradition dating back several centuries. Back then, the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glass artisans in one place. Today, its name is known worldwide, and the glass originating from there takes your breath away.
The Barbin family is one of the distinguished medieval lineages. These glassmakers left their mark on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, the Barbin family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most eminent glassmakers.
The family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
