Description

An exciting part of the solid, square 1000-piece puzzle series from Flame Tree, featuring powerful and popular works of art. This new puzzle will satisfy your need for a challenge with an inspiring graphic poster masterpiece, Rosie the Niveter. This 1000-piece jigsaw is suitable for adults and children over 13 years old. Not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts. The finished puzzle size is 735 x 510 mm / 29 x 20 inches. It now includes an A4 poster for informational purposes.

This iconic image of empowerment has become a symbol of modern women's confidence. Originally created for Westinghouse Electric Manufacturing Company, it was part of a series of posters commissioned by the company and appeared only briefly during the war. Many associated it with the American war effort and the U.S. government’s call for women to join the defense and aviation industries. Such campaigns created thousands of jobs for women, and subsequent generations have placed Rosie as a symbol of empowerment at the end of the 20th century. In reality, this particular image was not officially used and is sometimes confused with a similar Norman Rockwell poster depicting a keen young woman standing in front of the American flag. Miller’s poster, however, conveys the steel strength of femininity, with a direct challenge to the viewer through carefully painted eyes and a bold slogan.
