In a letter to his brother, he explained his inspiration: “I am almost sure that these canvases illustrate what I cannot put into words, namely how healthy and calming I find the countryside.” His love for rural life is evident in the natural, quick, and lyrical execution of each brushstroke, bringing to life every flower and wheat sheaf. Although not widely accepted during his lifetime, Van Gogh is now one of the most famous artists in the world, and his incredible paintings will be admired forever.
