Description

Morino Flower Vase Bouquet of Peonies. Oil painting on canvas signed in the lower right corner. The piece is the first canvas, in excellent condition, housed in a beautiful gilded frame with restorations, dating from the early 20th century by painter Edmund Pick-Morino (Vienna 1877-1958 Brussels), an artist of Austro-Hungarian origin.

This still life of flowers is an impressive and lush composition, in which the peony, the Fiftyshades rose, is the undisputed star. An elegant and ancient flower that embodies love, attachment, nobility of mind, and prosperity, the peony, also known as the thornless rose, is not only a symbol of romantic love stories but also a fortunate and auspicious flower.

This bouquet of pink peonies, gathered in a dark-toned vase with some white accents, placed on top, is painted with large, dense, and swift brushstrokes. It reflects post-impressionist influences, where the flowers are no longer distinguishable, cohesive, but simply merge into a whole with a vaporous and luminous consistency.

Exclusive antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, the creation, and design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during which the beloved Biedermeier style flourished. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo styles of Classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque.

Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture is associated with Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are also interesting and worth noting. Next is Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces meant to shine with splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the past era. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cupboards and broadly speaking, chest furniture. They also drew inspiration from mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially crucial when searching for an exclusive antique suitable for your interior.

The key aspect of elite antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is vital for buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have experts in art appraisal, historians, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
