Description
Morino Flower Vase Bouquet of Peonies. Oil painting on canvas signed in the lower right corner. The artwork is the first canvas, in excellent condition, framed in a beautiful gilded frame with restorations, dating from the early 20th century by painter Edmund Pick-Morino (Vienna 1877-1958 Brussels), an artist of Austro-Hungarian origin.
This still life with flowers is an impressive and lush composition, in which the peony, the Rose of the Virgin, is the undisputed star. An elegant and ancient flower that embodies love, attachment, nobility of mind, and prosperity, the peony, also known as the rose without thorns, is not only a symbol of romantic love stories but also a fortunate and auspicious flower.
This bouquet of pink peonies, gathered in a dark-toned vase with some white accents, placed on top, is painted with large, dense, and quick brushstrokes. It is a work showing post-impressionist influences, where the flowers are no longer distinguishable, coherent, but simply become a whole with a steamy and luminous consistency.
Exclusive antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, the creation, and design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.
There are many styles characterizing antique furniture, but a few key ones can be distinguished. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during which the prevailing Biedermeier style was popular. Its variants in the early years of the century include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo styles of classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque.
Empire-style furniture corresponds to the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Everything was influenced by Napoleon’s reign, which imposed significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture is associated with Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are also interesting and noteworthy. Next is Baroque, a term derived from Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate, representative pieces designed to shine with splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Unique materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these items.
Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the past era. An important style as well is Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and also left a significant mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance style was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These were quite specific products but opened new possibilities, such as the construction of buffets or broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs taking animal forms.
Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for an exclusive antique suitable for your interior.
The most important aspect of elite antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately crucial for buyers, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos.
