iMuranesi is a unique venture, originally conceived in the imagination of Giampaolo Barbini. It was this very man who contributed the legacy of one of the oldest Venetian families, connected with Murano glassmaking.

The Barbini family is one of the respected medieval lineages. They established their presence on Murano Island as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by decree of the Council of Ten, the Barbini family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be seen at the Glass Museum on Murano Island.
