Murano glass has a long and fascinating history that began with a decree by the authorities to concentrate all artisans in one place. What started so modestly is now the foundation of the story of the most renowned glassmaking tradition known worldwide.
iMuranesi is a unique venture, originally conceived in the imagination of Giampaolo Barbiní. It was this man who brought with him the heritage of one of the oldest Venetian families, linked to Murano glassmaking.
iMuranesi products are one of a kind thanks to the synergy of many equally important elements. These include harmony of detail, the use of modern techniques, tasteful and bold design, and strong interaction between top designers and glassmakers.

The Barbiní family is one of the respected medieval dynasties. They established their presence on Murano Island as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci, the Barbiní family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be seen today at the Glass Museum on Murano Island.
