iMuranesi is an artistic project born from the imagination of a descendant of one of the most famous Italian glassmaking families, Giampaolo Barbini. He inherited his family's legacy, producing the most beautiful glass lamps, vases, and ornaments.
Products of this brand are unique thanks to the synergy of many equally important elements. These include the beauty of finish, the use of innovative manufacturing methods, tasteful and bold design, and strong interaction between top designers and glassmakers.
iMuranesi is now a popular international company that combines modernity with traditional Venetian glassmaking values.
However, behind this designer project lies a tradition dating back to medieval times, when the authorities of the Republic of Venice decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, its name is associated worldwide, and the glass originating from there is breathtaking.
The Barbini family is one of the respected medieval families that established its presence on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, the Barbini family was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men facing each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be seen at the Murano Glass Museum.
