However, this modern project is rooted in a tradition that dates back several centuries, when the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glass artisans in one place. To this day, its name is recognized worldwide, and the glass originating from there is breathtaking.
The Barbini family is one of the outstanding medieval clans that established its presence in Venice as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Council of Ten, the Barbini family was included in the Golden Book of Notable Citizens of Murano, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – depicting two bearded wise men facing each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be seen today in the Murano Glass Museum.
