Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives focuses on producing exclusive knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to remain completely detached from the trends that have emerged worldwide over the years. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these master craftsmen.
The owners firmly deny the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would cause the loss of identity of the manufactured products. For this reason, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very much welcomed, provided they introduce elements consistent with the existing idea and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized groups of artisans, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials - blades are made of steel, while handles are made, among others, from bison, buffalo, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each one is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
