In complete opposition to this situation is the philosophy of Berti Knives, a producer of exclusive knives for various uses. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family manufactory seems to be entirely detached from the trends that have taken place worldwide over the years. Its main guiding principle is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these skilled artisans.
The owners firmly deny the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would cause the loss of identity of the products. For this reason, their company's philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed staff. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any innovations. They are highly desirable, provided they bring elements consistent with the existing idea and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the individual stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized groups of artisans, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials – blades are made of steel, while handles are made, among others, from bison, buffalo, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their knives, although intended for everyday use, be treated with the appropriate respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each of them is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
