The times we live in are associated with increased consumption. As a result, the objects we use daily are valued only for their utility. Each year, we often let go of the sentimental value they once held, replacing them with newer models.
The philosophy of Berti Knives, a brand producing exclusive knives for various purposes, differs from this trend. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the small manufactory seems to remain completely detached from the trends that have dominated the world over the years. Its core guiding principle is a commitment to tradition, which is still upheld by the fourth generation of these skilled artisans.
The owners strongly oppose the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the knives produced. For this reason, their company's work philosophy places special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to innovations. They are very much welcomed, provided they do not conflict with the existing idea and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not carried out by specialized groups of workers but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The best quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as buffalo horns, bison, deer, and 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, despite being intended for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each of them is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
