Description

Pinelli Bartolomeo Sei Prints 1831 Graphics of folk costumes, a collection of six maps in modern frames, in good condition, depicting traditional attire and scenes from the life of the common people in Rome. Specifically, the prints illustrate:

The pig seller on the streets of Rome, commonly known as Tripparolo;

A Saracen peasant with his wife going to the Santo Spirito hospital;

Bagpipers at the Marcellus Theatre;

Wagons loaded with coal;

Distribution of bread among farmers at the Flavian Amphitheatre;

Goat seller.

Each card at the bottom left: B. Pinelli dis. and in. 1831. On the right: Rome, Calcografia Generale.

His graphics illustrated folk costumes of Italian peoples, great masterpieces of literature, as well as themes from the history of Rome, Greece, the Napoleonic era, and others. The most recurring theme is Rome, its inhabitants, monuments, ancient and modern city. Among his students was the well-known portraitist from Gorizia, Giuseppe Tominz.

His illustrative work, besides its artistic value, also holds significant documentary importance for the ethnography of Rome, Italy, and Switzerland. In addition to a repertoire of images dedicated to Roman costumes, he illustrated many books, creating cycles inspired by the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, and Greco-Roman mythology. Works that bear the strongest mark of Neoclassicism.

Original antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage items that possess a specific character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of traditional and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century, especially the Biedermeier style, is notable. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, such as Louis XVI style, also strongly references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are antique products in Rococo style and Louis XV. Next is Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces meant to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Selectively used materials were employed to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cupboards and broadly speaking, chest furniture. The Renaissance interest in mythology and antiquity was reflected in the animal-shaped supports and legs.

Lion’s paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that suits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the customer's perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market.
