iMuranesi is an artistic project conceived by Giampaolo Barbin. He brought with him the legacy of one of the most renowned Venetian families.
The iMuranesi products are unique thanks to the combination of several equally important elements. It’s a harmony of detail, the use of modern techniques, tasteful and contemporary design, and strong collaboration between top designers and glassmakers.
iMuranesi is now a popular international brand that combines contemporary creativity with traditional Venetian glassmaking values.
However, behind this modern design lies a tradition dating back hundreds of years, when the authorities of the former Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, the name of this place is known worldwide, and the glass produced there continues to impress audiences.
The Barbin family is one of the most respected medieval lineages. These glassmakers have left their mark on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, the Barbin family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
The family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men facing each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be admired today at the Murano Glass Museum.
