Beautiful design and attention to the finest details are a guarantee of the highest quality from Tettau. The “Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau” has been in operation for over 200 years, making it the oldest porcelain factory in Bavaria. The great Alexander v. Sam Humboldt fought for its establishment in 1794.

Almost 100 years later, over 200 employees work here, including turners, glaze specialists, kiln operators, painters of colors, and other artisans in the production halls.

In 1918, the management chose Max Wunderlich, who after World War II shifted production from affordable tableware to prestigious coffee and tea sets, which have since been sold worldwide as true, mostly handcrafted treasures. However, this does not satisfy the company, which continuously strives to better meet today’s demands. With the invention of a special hard porcelain, sold under the name Diamant, Königlich Tettau achieved a global innovation in the 2010/2011 season: a combination of the aesthetics of creamy and soft porcelain with the durability of hard porcelain. Since 1957, the company has been part of the Seltmann Weiden group.

To counteract the ongoing pressure from cheap imports from the Far East, the production, sales, and administration of Königlich priv. Tettau are integrated within the Seltmann Rudolstadt / Volkstedt group locations and the Erbendorf plant. Thanks to these measures, the management of Seltmann Weiden and Königlich priv. Tettau has credibly ensured the continuation of the production and sale of “Königlich privilegierte Porzellan fabrik Tettau” products.

Founded in 1910, “Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann” transformed into a group of companies still managed as a family business, through the acquisition of “Königlich Privierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau,” which includes four specialized porcelain factories and an art department established in 1990. In five plants, around 1,000 employees produce prestigious porcelain for households, hotels, gastronomy, catering, and incentive programs. The next goal is to produce especially valuable sculptures by renowned artists and high-quality gifts.

Thanks to the acquisition of the Königlich Tettau porcelain factory and the manufactory group, Seltmann Group has over 250 years of experience in porcelain production. The group's porcelain meets the highest global standards in design, functionality, durability, and exclusivity. These properties are maintained through products whose high quality standards can only be upheld in Germany. In line with this philosophy, Seltmann Group — as one of the few porcelain producers — maintains all its manufacturing facilities in Germany.
