Description

Voting urn for the student brotherhood from 1800, of Tuscan origin, made of turned and carved sheepwood. The central part has the shape of a small barrel, into which hands are inserted to place the voting ball into one of two compartments connected to a drawer below, where the words YES and NO are located on the front, referring to the vote. It rests on four turned legs, has a rear handle, and carved elements at both ends, highlighted with ebony color. For the brotherhood's use, this urn was used for collegial decision-making regarding community elections. It is in good condition.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Everything was influenced by Napoleon’s reign. During this time, there was a strong resemblance and reference to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture is associated with the Louis XVI style, which also heavily references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are all antique products in Rococo style and Louis XV. Next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese word barocco – which translates to irregularly developed pearl. These were highly representative pieces of furniture, literally dripping with brilliance and playing a significant role in luxury. Unique, selectively used materials were employed to further emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the past era. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance style was quite heavy and bulky. Brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs were used. These products were quite specific, but they also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly speaking, chest furniture. There was also an interest in mythology and ancient times, so supports and legs often took animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads – these are common features in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, taking inspiration from Italian and French creators. This is a sign of admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of vintage antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the customer’s perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides a certificate confirming the product’s compliance with the actual description and photo.
