Description

Voting urn for the student fraternity from 1800, of Tuscan origin, made of turned and carved sheepwood. The central part has the shape of a small barrel, into which hands are inserted to place the voting ball into one of two compartments connected to a drawer below, where on the front side there are the words YES and NO, referring to the vote. It rests on four turned legs, has a rear handle, and carved parts at both ends, highlighted with ebony color. For the fraternity's use, this urn was used for collegial decision-making regarding community elections. It is in good condition.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It all originated during Napoleon's reign. This period is characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Classical furniture refers to the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are all antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco' – meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly representative pieces of furniture, literally dripping with brilliance and playing a significant role in luxury. Unique, selectively used materials were employed to further emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the former era. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and also left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance style was quite heavy and bulky. Brown stains, cornices, sturdy plinths, and bas-reliefs were used. These products were quite specific, but they also offered many new possibilities, such as the construction of cupboards or broadly understood chest furniture. Here, too, there was an interest in mythology and ancient times, so supports and legs often took animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads – these are common features in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture made in this style, taking inspiration from Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its own character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of vintage antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the customer's perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. The Luxury Products brand provides documentation confirming the product's compliance with the actual description and photos. We have art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world at your disposal.
