Description

Dining table made of walnut with drawers and a top crafted from a single board. The Renaissance-style table was made from an antique plank by building or recreating the basic structure in the second half of the 19th century. It is made of walnut, features a cabinet axis with a profiled crossbar and a band with carved scrolls, and has two drawers. The table is rectangular, in good condition, and extremely sturdy. The top is supported by interlocking joints and is very heavy (weighing approximately 50 kg). Perfect for a dining room or a formal office.

An antique walnut dining table with drawers is a highly sought-after piece of furniture. These solid walnut tables often feature handcrafted details such as intricate carvings and beautiful finishes, reflecting the style and era in which they were created.

Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage items that possess a specific character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of traditional and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few of the most important can be distinguished. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, marked by the prevailing Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo-styles of Classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It was influenced by Napoleon’s reign, which imposed a significant resemblance to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also strongly references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are antique products in Rococo style and Louis XV. The next style is Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces designed to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of cupboards and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French artisans. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that fits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial from the customer’s perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market.
