Description

Ancient salon table from the 1700s of Tuscan origin, fully veneered with rosewood, featuring a front drawer, allowing it to also serve as a small desk. The legs of this antique rectangular central table have a soft sabre shape, with a faceted profile crafted with masterful geometric inlay consisting of alternating ebony, maple, and mahogany woods, giving the furniture exceptional elegance.

The Louis XV-style legs end with a square turned foot.

A valuable decoration in the form of threaded squares with geometric motifs made of boxwood, walnut, and rosewood adorns both the shaped top and all the strips under the table, decorated with moldings, enabling the placement of this antique rectangular desk in a Louis XV style environment.

The furniture has been carefully restored in our antique furniture restoration workshop.

Stylish antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture refers to the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, a term derived from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning irregularly developed pearl. These were highly representative pieces designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Unique, selectively used materials were employed to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical era. The Renaissance style also had a significant impact. Flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, it left a lasting mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, with cornices, strong bases, and reliefs. These were quite distinctive products, offering new possibilities such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. The Renaissance also drew inspiration from mythology and antiquity, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion’s paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when searching for elegant antiques suited to your interior.

The key aspect of elite antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this matters most to buyers, as the market is filled with many forgeries. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and correspondence to the description and photos. We have appraisers, art experts, historians, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
