The philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exclusive knives for various purposes, differs from this approach. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems to remain completely detached from the trends that have dominated the industry over the years. Its core idea is a commitment to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of these Italian artisans.
The founders firmly reject the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of the offered products. For this reason, their company's philosophy places special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this does not mean that this Italian family is closed to any changes. Changes are highly welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can withstand years of quality testing.
Unlike others, the individual stages of knife production are not handled by specialized groups of workers, but are often performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The best quality materials are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are, among others, crafted from bison, buffalo, deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners encourage that their products, despite being intended for everyday use, are treated with proper respect, which guarantees their longevity. Each piece is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
