Description
Playing with scales and spheres, the creative minds at Malabar designed this future classic bench to illustrate that creativity can transform a living room into a space of art. Handmade by Portuguese artisans, the Galatea bench features an asymmetrical construction consisting of different legs, two marble spheres, and a rectangular shape made of walnut wood. This extraordinary, artistic bench will add interesting seating options to your home decor.
Malabar was founded in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the collection of elegant furniture by World Architects. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory collections.
Malabar has left its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are some of the top venues for showcasing design.
Malabar’s furniture design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.
The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that set such original companies apart. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various techniques of working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.
An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Juicy and vivid hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in the bold furniture designs.
The company’s name comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route. This remains true today, as Malabar continues to define highly individual design boundaries and evoke strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.
