The times we live in are characterized by increased consumption. As a result, the everyday items we use hold no value other than functional. Over the years, we often shed the sentimentality they deserve, replacing them with newer models.
However, the philosophy of Berti Knives, a manufacturer of exceptional knives for various purposes, differs. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, this small workshop appears to be entirely autonomous from the trends that have emerged worldwide over the years. Its core value is fidelity to tradition, which is still cultivated by the fourth generation of experienced artisans.
The founders of the brand strongly oppose the idea of mass production by random labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity in the products. Therefore, their company's philosophy emphasizes the importance of the employed personnel. This does not mean, however, that this Italian family is closed to change. Changes are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can pass the test of long-term quality standards.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife production are not carried out by specialized groups of artisans but are performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
The production uses the highest quality materials — blades are made of steel, and handles include materials such as buffalo horn, bison horn, deer antler, or 'bosso' wood.
The owners recommend that, despite their knives being designed for everyday use, they should be treated with respect to ensure their longevity. Each one is a small, unique work of art.
