Contrary to this trend, the philosophy of Berti Knives is to produce exceptional knives for various purposes. Founded in 1895 by David Berti, the family workshop seems completely detached from the trends that have emerged over the years worldwide. Its core principle is fidelity to tradition, which is now maintained by the fourth generation of Italian artisans.
The owners firmly reject the idea of mass production by unskilled labor, which they believe would lead to the loss of identity of their knives. For this reason, their work philosophy places a special emphasis on the employed personnel. However, this Italian family is not closed to innovations. They are very welcome, provided they do not conflict with the existing philosophy and can withstand long-term quality tests.
Unlike others, the various stages of knife creation are not handled by specialized sections of workers, but are performed from start to finish by the same person. Thanks to this practice, each blade is completely unique.
Materials of the highest quality are used in production — blades are made of steel, and handles are made, among others, from buffalo, bison, or deer horns, or 'bosso' wood.
The brand owners encourage that, despite being designed for everyday use, their knives should be treated with proper respect, which guarantees their durability for many years. Each of them is, after all, a small, unique work of art.
