Description

Empire chandelier pair made of Czech crystal and bronze from the first half of the 20th century, with eight internal lamps, in excellent condition.

Two chandeliers feature a classic round hot air balloon design, droplet-shaped with bronze crowns, well-carved castings with decorative ovolo moldings, beads, and floral motifs.

Bronze crowns are connected by a cascade of crystal festoons, which are actually dressed in light with faceted crystals arranged in a gradation, all handcrafted during the restoration phase. The pair of chandeliers has been restored, see the before and after renovation photos, and rewired.

The lower part of the structure, in accordance with the main crown, houses eight E27 bulbs arranged radially inside, illuminating the crystals from within, enhancing the light refraction effect and the vivid glow of the shining crystals, which give this type of chandelier its name.

They are commonly called balloon chandeliers or hot air balloon chandeliers precisely because of the valuable and scenographic effect of the decorative elements made of transparent Czech crystal illuminated from inside. They measure 135 cm in height, without the chain, and 70 cm in diameter.

Exceptional antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century is rooted in the prevalent Biedermeier style. Early in the century, this included neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe, and Victorian styles. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from the Napoleonic era. It features significant influences from Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate, luxurious furniture designed to dazzle and serve as a statement of opulence. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.

Today, we can see how strongly Baroque influenced modern classic furniture, which often resembles the styles of the past. Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and relief decorations. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, especially in the construction of cabinets and chest-type furniture. Mythology and classical themes were popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Many global brands now recreate furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, reflecting admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that each country had its own approach to furniture making, giving each style a unique character. This is especially crucial when seeking an exclusive antique piece suited to your interior.

The key attribute of elite antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this matters most to buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and accurate description and photos. We also have experts—art appraisers, historians, and specialists from around the world—at your disposal.
