Description
Ancient crystal chandeliers of Maria Theresa, with 24 lights spread across curved arms in two tiers—sixteen lights in the first tier and eight lights in the upper and inner sections—highlight the magic from above, emphasizing the reflection effect created by the sparkle of numerous garlands and pendants made of transparent and faceted Czech crystal.
The Maria Theresa style chandelier model, referencing the Empress of Austria who reigned from 1740 to 1780, features a metal structure entirely covered with crystals.
This pair of Maria Theresa crystal chandeliers dates from 1950 and is in excellent condition, fully functional, restored, and re-electrified with dual ignition.
The chandeliers originate from a private residence in Milan and have a unit weight of 25 kg. They are wired for a maximum power of 1500 watts, equipped with 24 Edison bulbs (14 + 1 E27 bulb).
Prestigious antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.
Several key styles stand out among antique furniture. Eclectic furniture mainly refers to the 19th century, marked by the popular Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, inspired by the reign of Napoleon, with strong influences from Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are particularly interesting and noteworthy. The Baroque style, deriving its name from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate, luxurious furniture designed to dazzle and play a significant role in opulence. Materials were chosen selectively to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can see how the Baroque style has greatly influenced modern classical furniture, which often resembles the grandeur of the past. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust. It featured brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and relief decorations. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest-type furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, reflecting admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently across countries, and each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that suits your interior.
The key to stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this matters most to buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos.
