Description
Ancient crystal chandeliers of Maria Theresa, with 24 lights spread across curved arms in two levels—sixteen lights in the first row and eight lights in the upper and inner sections—highlight the magic from above with the reflection of light thanks to the brilliance of numerous garlands and pendants made of transparent, faceted Czech crystal.
The Maria Theresa style chandelier model, referencing the Empress of Austria who reigned from 1740 to 1780, features a metal structure entirely covered with crystals.
This pair of Maria Theresa crystal chandeliers dates from 1950 and is in excellent condition, fully functional, restored, and re-electrified with double ignition.
The chandeliers come from a private residence in Milan and have a unit weight of 25 kg. They are wired for a maximum power of 1500 watts, with 24 Edison bulbs (14 + 1 E27 bulb).
Prestigious antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during which the beloved Biedermeier style flourished. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo styles of classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque.
Empire-style furniture and accessories originate from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, inspired by Napoleon’s reign. This style features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are particularly interesting and noteworthy. The Baroque style, whose name derives from the Portuguese "barocco"—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by very ornate furniture meant to shine with splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were chosen selectively to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive. It used brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cupboards and broadly speaking, chest furniture. They also drew inspiration from mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that each country perceived furniture production differently, so each style had its own character. This is especially crucial when searching for a luxurious antique that fits your interior.
The key to stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is what matters most to buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos.
