The Barbin family is one of the medieval glassmaking dynasties that left their mark on Murano Island as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, the Barbin clan was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables by decree of the Council of Ten, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, the Barbin family coat of arms was granted at that time – featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be seen today at the Glass Museum on Murano Island.
