The Barbini family is one of the respected medieval clans. These glassmakers have left their mark on Murano since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by order of the Council of Ten, the Barbini clan was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society of Excellence, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, at that time, the Barbini family coat of arms was granted – featuring two bearded wise men facing each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be seen at the Murano Glass Museum.
