The Barbin family is one of the respected medieval lineages. These glassmakers established their presence on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by decree of the Council of Ten, the Barbin family was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, their coat of arms was granted at that time – depicting two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be admired today in the Glass Museum on Murano island.
