However, behind this designer project lies a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, when the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glass artisans in one place. To this day, the name of this place is known worldwide, and the products originating from there are breathtaking.
The Barbini family is one of the respected medieval families that established their presence in Venice as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by decree of the Council of Ten, they were included in the Golden Book of Notable Murano Society, known as a register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – depicting two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
