Description

This floor decoration made of wrought iron is a fascinating example of artistic craftsmanship from the past. Two support legs provide stability and support for a rectangular frame made of pipes and rods, which forms the base of a rich decoration consisting of interwoven scrolls. These decorative details, crafted with care and skill, add elegance and sophistication to the entire piece.

The presence of embossed steel sheet elements on top, which highlight its beauty and design, indicates attention to detail typical of the 1950s style. The finish in scavo green not only gives the item a vintage look but also perfectly aligns with the decorative trends of that era, making this piece particularly desirable.

This well-preserved item is not only a decorative element but also a historical witness to the era when wrought iron was used to create functional works of art that combined aesthetics and practicality. It can be an ideal addition to various arrangements – from traditional to modern spaces, enriching them with a touch of history and craftsmanship.

It comes from a private collection in Milan, where it was used as an original wrought iron headboard for children. It is in good condition, with a delicate green scavo lacquer.
The ornament in the shape of curls on the headboard is also present on the support legs; it is not a headboard to hang on the wall, nor does it need to be placed against a wall. It is suitable for a child's bed or cradle set in the middle of a room.

Original antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage products that have a specific character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, especially the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Original Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from the reign of Napoleon. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco' – meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate, luxurious pieces designed to radiate splendor and play a significant role in opulence. Materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these works.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. They also reflected an interest in mythology and antiquity, with supports and legs taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads – these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French creators, demonstrating admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when seeking a luxurious antique piece suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the customer's perspective because many counterfeits circulate on the market.
