Description

Para of 1600 carved Cornucopias made of lacquered and gilded wood from central Italy, from a private villa in Siena; appear as vertical figures on a square base in the form of a pedestal, with damages and wear consistent with late 17th-century dating.

Without arms and wings, they have retained their original character unchanged, meaning the slightly naive style, which is reinforced by the golden curls of hair, and especially in the facial expressions with chubby cheeks reflecting 17th-century taste and a bored appearance. Not out of place.

It is believed that the wings were rather meant to be hung on the back rather than nailed, as there are no signs of interlocking or holes in the thorn or nails.

At the base, a symbol of brotherhood, a kind of Golgotha symbol drawn with white tempera. In the past, these statues were mounted as lamps.

Exclusive antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that have a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

There are many styles characterizing antique furniture, but a few key ones stand out. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, dominated by the Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles transitioned into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the late 18th to early 19th century. Everything stems from Napoleon’s reign, which imposed a strong resemblance and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture is associated with Louis XVI style, which also heavily references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are antique products in Rococo style and Louis XV. Next is Baroque, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces meant to radiate brilliance and play a significant role in luxury. Unique, selectively used materials were employed to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance style was quite heavy and bulky. Brown stains, cornices, sturdy pedestals, and bas-reliefs were used.It can certainly be said that these were quite specific products, but they opened up many new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets or broadly speaking, chest furniture. Here, too, mythology and ancient times were of interest, so supports or legs often took animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture made in this style, inspired by Italian or French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its own character. This is especially important when searching for an elegant antique that suits your interior.

The most important aspect of prestigious antique furniture is originality. And this ultimately matters to the buyer, as many fakes circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the actual description and photos.
